SPOTTING THE MOON
Thank you in advance for all of those that will
participate in this very important task. As many
Brethren are aware, the New Moon is
highly important because it signals the beginning blowing of trumpets
New Moon Crescent of the Biblical Months.
How to Spot the New Moon
1. On the 29th or 30th day of the Biblical Month (refer to our monthly calendar) about fifteen minutes before sunset, you and a witness should go to an area where you can see the sunset (West) without any obstructions, i.e. trees, artificial lights etc.
2. Scan the western horizon from right to left (of the sun) and up and down in a slow but purposeful manner. If the conditions are right, you should be able to see the crescent at least 15 to 20 minutes after sunset.
3. The above picture depicts what you should be looking for.
4. If you and your witness do spot the new moon (crescent), take note of where it was in reference to where the sun went down. For example, "the new moon was to the left of the sunset about xx degrees high."
5. If you do spot the new moon, please call us at 573-698-4215 or 815-718-1323 and let us know. You can also submit your reports to www.paleotimes.org. We will post the reported findings as soon as we get them.
6. Please be patient with us as we might ask you a few questions about the condition and placement of the crescent; this is done as we keep a record of every visible new moon. If you would like a record of the past moon write to us and we will send it to you.
7. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT SIGHTINGS WITH BINOCULARS OR ANY OTHER HIGH POWERED EQUIPMENT! However glasses are acceptable as they simply adjust a person's vision to normal.
If you have any questions or need clarification on how to spot the new moon please let us know. Thank you and Yah bless!
